w x w Kostant’s proof of this result can be found in 1, 2.1 or in 3, Theorem x 8.13.3 , where it is applied to a geometric description of minimal orbital varieties and to a classification of compact isotropy irreducible riemannian manifolds, respectively. The aim of the present work, as suggested by A. Joseph, was to investigate possible extensions of this theorem of Kostant for affine algebras.
