Abstract
Summary By accommodating the source property, we modify and extend the inverse scattering series (ISS) internal multiple attenuation (IMA) algorithm in order to enhance the fidelity of the amplitude and phase predictions of the internal multiples. The extended ISS IMA algorithm is data-driven such that no subsurface information about the multiple generators and user intervention is required. Based on satisfying the ‘lower-higher-lower’ relationship, the extended algorithm has ability to predict all internal multiples at all horizons at once. We demonstrate the implementations with and without accommodating the source property on the ISS internal multiple attenuation algorithm. Synthetic and field data tests show the extended algorithm provides added value and predicts more accurate internal multiples, hence it removes internal multiples more effective and reduces the dependence of adaptive subtraction.
