Abstract

The authors present a new variational ansatz which yields a continuous extension of the known band of solitons in the easy-plane ferromagnetic Heisenberg chain from the planar sine-Gordon limit to the new limit of low-energy small-amplitude wave packets. Additional numerical simulations fully confirm this result. In the sine-Gordon limit they recover the previous results, whereas the low-energy solitons resemble those of the isotropic Heisenberg chain. Deviations from previous simulations in the intermediate range are discussed.
