Abstract

We have measured the energy distribution of field emitted electrons by first accelerating them to about 20 keV and then directly energy analyzing these high energy electrons with a high-performance magnetic prism spectrometer. Our preliminary results indicate that it may be possible to extend the energy range of field emission spectroscopy to more than 5 eV below the Fermi level.
