Abstract

Results of investigation of the oxide-confined vertical-cavity laser (VCSEL) including non-uniformity of diffusion processes, dynamical effects, and transparent cavity modes are presented. The influence of the spatial hole burning effect on laser characteristics is investigated and discussed. It was shown that decreasing of oxide mesa radius leads to increasing of the modulation bandwidth of the VCSEL. Obtained results allow optimizing laser properties by changing of geometrical parameters.
