All informative operations (measurement, monitoring, testing, identification, physical modeling, and so on) contain a measure function as a procedure and thus can be characterized by the performance in attaining the purpose (accuracy quality). In that connection, metrology is the science of determining the accuracy of informative operations rather than the science of measurement alone. Metrology is thus represented as the accuracy branch of informatics. That extension of metrological purposes begins with the terminological etymology, which is adapted to new demands and is compatible with current concepts.
