Abstract
Introduction: Extra capsular dissection ECD is an acknowledged minimally invasive method of managing benign parotid tumours. Observers have interpreted the initial description as limiting the procedure to small 2–4 cm lesion in the superficial part of the parotid gland. This proposed restriction is incorrect. The extended ECD is reported and results analysed for a large series of patients treated by ECD.
