Abstract

The authors investigate the structure of extended conformal algebras generated by local chiral fields of spin 1,2,. . .,n using the Gelfand-Dickey algebra of formal pseudodifferential operators for the gl(n) algebra. The commutation relations of Zamolodchikov's spin-3 operator algebra (1985) are derived in the presence of an additional U(1) conserved current.
