AbstractDifferent expressions used to represent driving force for crystal growth, on the basis of fundamental thermodynamic considerations as well as on empirical grounds, are briefly reviewed. The choice of driving force expression for the crystal growth of barium chromate, when precipitation was carried out from homogeneous solution, is described and the reasons for the final choice are discussed.
