Abstract

Objective To investigate the expressions and clinical significances of liver kinase B1(LKB1) protein and matrix metalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7) in ameloblstoma. Methods The protein expressions of LKB1 and MMP-7 in 48 cases of ameloblstoma and 25 cases of odontogenic cyst tissue were detected by SP immunohistochemical method, the clinical significances were analyzed with the follow-up data. Results The expression rate of LKB1 and MMP-7 in ameloblstoma were related to the expression rate in odontogenic cyst tissue, the difference was significant (P 0.05). There was a significant difference in the expression rate of LKB1 and MMP-7 between with and without recurrence groups (P<0.05). There were significant negative correlations between LKB1 and MMP-7 protein expression (r=-0.401, P<0.05). Conclusions The expressions and significances of LKB1 and MMP-7 protein were related to the occurrence, development and prognosis of ameloblstoma. The combined detection of the expression of LKB1 and MMP-7 proteins may be valuable for the early diagnosis and prognosis of ameloblastoma. Key words: Ameloblstoma; Odontogenic cyst; LKB1; Matrix metalloproteinase-7; Immunohistochemistry
