Expression of sympathy in ‘Maai’ novel of ‘Gitanjali Shree’

Abstract

The consciousness with which Gitanjali Shri touches women's discussion, this environment is favorable. Instead of aiming for boldness in man-woman relationship, Gitanjali Shree chooses narratives where women exercise their freedom to decide or are seen moving towards this freedom. The text of Gitanjali Sri's literature gives words to the voice of a woman who aspires to freedom of thought rather than merely economic or sexual freedom. That's why here women are able to register their presence without speaking or speaking less. Economic freedom is essential for the freedom of women, but even more important is the change of thinking for which a struggle like 'MAAI' is needed. The one who sows the seed of freedom and equality in its next generation without asking for anything, without fighting. Not only does planting but also protects seedlings with friendly firmness. Bearing the storms herself, 'Maai' creates a new definition of a woman. A woman who happily accepts even the taunts of her mother-in-law. She obeys every order of her husband and father-in-law with feudal thinking, but frees the coming generation from feudal thinking. The meaning of women's independence is also freedom of decision. This fight for freedom of decision is sometimes even abused by the society. The novel 'Mai' definitely exposes the firmness and decision power hidden behind the weakness of a woman.

 स्त्री-विमर्श को जिस चेतनता से गीतांजलि श्री स्पर्श करती हैं यह परिवेश अनुकूल है। स्त्री-पुरुष संबंधों में बोल्डनेस को लक्षित करने की अपेक्षा गीतांजलि श्री ऐसे कथ्य का चयन करती हैं जहाँ स्त्रियाँ निर्णय लेने की स्वतंत्रता का उपयोग करती या इस स्वतंत्रता की ओर अग्रसर होती दिखायी देती हैं। गीतांजलि श्री के साहित्य का कथ्य एक ऐसी स्त्री की वाणी को शब्द प्रदान करता है जो केवल आर्थिक या यौनिक स्वतंत्रता की अपेक्षा सोच की स्वतंत्रता की आकांक्षी है। इसलिए यहाँ स्त्रियाँ बिना बोले या कम बोलकर भी अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज करा पाती हैं। आर्थिक स्वतंत्रता स्त्री की स्वतंत्रता के लिए अनिवार्य है, परन्तु इससे भी अधिक आवश्यक है सोच का परिवर्तन जिसके लिए ‘माई’ जैसे संघर्ष की आवश्यकता है। जो बिना कुछ माँगे, बिना लड़े अपनी अगली पीढ़ी में स्वतंत्रता व समानता का बीजारोपण करती है। न केवल रोपण करती है अपितु अनुकूल दृढ़ता से अंकुरों की रक्षा भी करती है। स्वयं झंझावातों को सहती ‘माई’ स्त्री की नयी परिभाषा गढ़ती है। स्त्री जो हमजात सास के तानों को भी सहर्ष स्वीकार करती है। सामन्ती सोच वाले ससुर व पति की प्रत्येक आज्ञा का पालन करती है परन्तु आने वाली पीढ़ी को सामंती सोच से मुक्त कराती है। स्त्री स्वतंत्रता का अभिप्राय भी निर्णय की स्वतंत्रता ही है। निर्णय की स्वतंत्रता की यह लड़ाई कभी समाज द्वारा दुत्कार भी दी जाती है। ‘माई’ उपन्यास तो निश्चित तौर पर स्त्री की दुर्बलता के पीछे छिपी दृढ़ता व निर्णय शक्ति को उजागर करता है।
