Abstract

Objective To observe the changes of serum C1q/TNF-related protein 3 (CTRP3) in patients with progressive cerebral infarction (PCI) and to explore its clinical value. Methods Fifty-five patients with PCI were selected as the research group, fifty-five healthy subjects were selected as the control group. The levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and CTRP3 were compared between the two groups before and after treatment by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results The levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in research group were higher than those in control group (P<0.05). The level of CTRP3 in the research group was lower than that in control group (P<0.05). CTRP3 has a negative correlation between TNF-α and IL-6 levels (r=-0.351, P=0.009; r=-0.465, P=0.003), respectively. After treatment, the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in PCI group were decreased, and the level of CTRP3 was increased (P<0.05), CTRP3 has a negative correlation between TNF-α and IL-6 levels (r=-0.326, P=0.015; r=-0.569, P=0.001), respectively. Conclusion The level of serum CTRP3 in patients with PCI was decreased, and CTRP3 levels was increased after treatment, and it is negatively correlated with the levels of TNF-α and IL-6. It is suggested that CTRP3 may be involved in the pathophysiological process of brain injury after PCI. The detection of serum CTRP3 may have important clinical significance in assisting to judge the prognosis of PCI.
