Abstract

Background and Objectives: To use the rat temporomandibular rheumatoid arthritis animal model to assay the expression of receptor activator for nuclear factor-kappa B ligand (RANKL) mRNA and osteoprotegerin (OPG) mRNA and calcitonin receptor (CTR) mRNA in the rat temporomandibular tissue by means of reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), and to evaluate the relationship between the extent of bone tissue destruction and expression of RANKL and OPG.
