Abstract

Objective The relationship between the expression of p57Kip2 and unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA) was preliminarily studied by means of the expression of p57Kip2 in the villi of URSA patients and normal pregnant women. Methods 82 patients with URSA at the early state of pregnancy (URSA group) and 97 normal pregnant women (control group) were selected. Early abortion villi samples were divided into the two groups, 7 to 9 weeks of pregnancy and 10 to 12 weeks of pregnancy samples. The expression of p57Kip2 in villi was detected by immunohistochemistry, p57Kip2 gene and protein expression were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot method. Results 1.Immunohistochemical detection showed that p57Kip2 expression was more strongly expressed in the villi of the URSA group during 10-12 weeks of pregnancy, and which was significantly higher in the URSA group than that in the control group (P 0.05). 2. RT-PCR test showed that the expression of p57Kip2 in the villi of the URSA group during 10-12 weeks of pregnancy was higher than that of the control group (P 0.05). 3. Western-blot test showed that the expression of p57Kip2 in the villi of the URSA group during 10-12 weeks of pregnancy was higher than that of the control group (P 0.05). Conclusion There was a certain association between URSA and high p57Kip2 expression in the villous tissue of patients during 10-12 weeks of pregnancy.
