Abstract
Objective To detect the expression of glyoxalase 1 (GLO1) in gliomas and to investigate its role in migration, proliferation and invasive ability of C6 cell line. Methods GLO1 expression was examined in 48 cases of glioma tissues by using immunohistochemistry. After downregulation of GLO1 expression in C6 cells using small interfering RNA (siRNA) interference fragment, the ability of migration, proliferation and invasion was evaluated by transwell assay and methyl thiazol tetrazolium (MTT) assay, respectively. Results The positive rate of GLO1 in gliomas was 60.4%,and the GLO1 expression was related to the pathological grade (P < 0.05).GLO1 downregulation significantly inhibited migration, proliferation and invasion of C6 cells (P < 0.05).Conclusion GLO1 expression is closely associated with the formation of glioma, and its downregulation can obviously inhibit migration, proliferation and invasion. Key words: Glioma; Glyoxalase 1 ; Cell proliferation migration; Invasion
