Abstract

This study aims to clarify the characteristics in the expression of concrete eaves in public buildings of postwar Japan. Therefore, the reinterpretation of wooden construction in concrete is studied. First, relevant structural members are defined as hashira, keta, and taruki. Second, samples are examined according to the articulation of these members and the hierarchy between keta and taruki. Third, the construction method is distinguished between site-cast and precast concrete. Analyzing the relationship between articu-lation of members, hierarchy, and construction method, patterns are established. By comparing these patterns, the characteristics in the expression of concrete eaves are clarified.
