Abstract
In a letter dated July 6, 2006, the editors of Clinical Medicine & Research were notified by officials at the Rikshospitalet-Radiumhospitalet Medical Center, Oslo, Norway of a recent investigation into the potential scientific misconduct of one of the hospital’s employees, Jon Sudbo. During the investigation led by Professor Anders Ekbom of the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, it was determined that Jon Sudbo had fabricated data in his PhD research project. Many of his subsequent published articles were based upon this fabricated data. Thus, the Commission of Inquiry into Jon Sudbo’s scientific fraud has recommended these articles be retracted. At this time, the editors of Clinical Medicine & Research express our concern regarding the legitimacy of the article we published in 2004 by Jon Sudbo.1 We are awaiting the English translation of the Commission’s complete report and will make a final judgment into the request for retraction after we have reviewed the report in its entirety. We will keep our readers informed of additional information received and decisions made regarding this article.
