Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of calcitonin receptors(CTR) in giant cell tumors of bone and osteochondroma detect the correlation between CTR with Jaffe pathological grade and the biological behavior of the tumor. Methods The expression of CTR was detected in the group that included 12 cases of giant cell tumors of bone and in control group that included 10 cases of osteochondromas by using S - P immunohistochemical method. Results The positive rate of CTR in 12 cases of giant cell tumors of bone was 91.7% and 20% in 10 cases of osteochondromas. There was a significant difference between giant cell tumor of bone and osteochondroma (P < 0. 01 ) . Conclusion The expression of CTR in giant cell tumor of bone is prominently and it is not consistent with Jaffe pathological grade. Key words: Giant cell tumor of bone ; Calcitonin receptors; Immunohistochemistry
