Abstract

Objective To study the expression of matrilysin (MMP-7) and its significance in human colorectal adenoma. Methods We have examined the expression of matrilysin in tissue of colorectal adenoma and non-tumorous polyps using immunohistochemical staining. Results The brown or light brown granulae in cytoplasm or cell membrane was considered positive expression.According to the analysis of statistics, the expression of matrilysin is significantly higher in colorectal adenoma than in colorectal non-tumorous polyps.Matrilysin expression of colorectal adenoma is correlated with degree of epithelial dysplasia, but isn't correlated with patients'sex, age, tumorous position and type of histolngy. Conclusions MMP-7 can be regard as the biological marker that evaluate risk of colorectal adenoma developing into colorectal carcinoma. Key words: Colorectal adenoma; Matrix metalloproteinase-7; Matrilydin
