Abstract

Objective To detect the expression of epidermal growth factor receptor variantⅢ (EGFRvⅢ) in gastric carcinoma to explore its relation with the genesis and development of gastric carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemistry (MaxvionTM2) was used to detect the expression of EGFRvⅢ protein in 58 gastric carcinoma tissues as well as 20 normal gastric tissues specimens from non-cancer patients. Results Positive expression rate of EGFRvⅢ in gastric carcinoma tissues were higher than that in normal gastric tissues (P 0.05). Conclusions Many gastric carcinoma tissues have overexpression of EGFRvⅢ, Over-expressed EGFRvⅢ may be related to initiation and progression of gastric cancer. And the specific expression of EGFRvⅢ can make it become the ideal target treatment of carcinoma. Key words: Epidermal growth factor receptor variant Ⅲ(EGFRvⅢ); Gastric carcinoma; Immunohistochemistry
