Abstract

Objective To study the expression of Yes-associated protein (YAP) and transcriptional co-activator (TAZ) in papillary thyroid carcinoma and their clinical significance. Methods The expression levels of YAP and TAZ were detected by immunohistochemistry in 108 cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma tissues and corresponding paracancerous normal tissues.Statisticalanalysis of data using the statistical product and service solutions 25.0 software. Results The expression level of YAP was 71.3% in papillary thyroid carcinoma tissues, whereas its expression level was 20.4% in the corresponding paracancerous normal tissues, with statistical significance (χ2=56.410, P 0.05). The expression level of TAZ was 69.4% in papillary thyroid carcinoma tissues, whereas its expression level was 22.2% in the corresponding paracancerous normal tissues, with statistical significance (χ2=48.503, P 0.05). YAP as well as TAZ was expressed highly in papillary thyroid carcinoma tissues. The expression of YAP and TAZ was positively correlated (r=0.601, P<0.05). Conclusion The high expression of YAP as well as TAZ is closely related to the development of papillary thyroid carcinoma. Key words: Yes-associated protein; Transcriptional co-activator; Papillary thyroid carcinoma; Gene expression
