Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of phosphorylated Afadin (p-Afadin) and to assess its relationship with clinicopathological features and prognosis in colorectal cancer(CRC) patients with osteoporosis. Methods The expression of p-Afadin in specimens form 73 colorectal cancer patients with osteoporosis was examined by immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining and Western blot, the results were compared with clinicopathological features and overall survival. Results The expression of p-Afadin was upregulated in CRC tissues, high expression of p-Afadin was closely associated with depth of tumor invasion, lymph node metastasis, vascular invasion and perineural invasion, patients with high expression of p-Afadin had shorter overall survival. Conclusion High expression of p-Afadin is associated with CRC progression and poor prognsis in colorectal cancer patients with osteoporosis.
