Expression and clinical significance of Omi/HtrA2 in esophageal squamous cellular carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of the pro-apoptorsis fator Omi/HtrA2 in esophageal cancer tissues,adjacent noncancerous tissues and normal tissues,and its correlation with clinicopathological features.Methods The expression of mitochondrial serine protease Omi/HtrA2 was detected by using immunohistochemistry En Vinsion system in 40 cases of esophageal carcinoma tissues,40 cases of paracancerous tissues and 13 cases of benign esophageal disease mucosa.Results The positive rate of Omi/HtrA2 expression in esophageal carcinoma,paracancerous tissue and the mucosa of benign esophageal disease was 70.00％,27.50％ and 23.08％,respectively.The positive rate of Omi/HtrA2 in the well and moderately differentiated tumor tissues,and the poorly differentiated tumor tissues was 83.3％ and 50％ respectively (P ＜0.05).The positive rate of Omi/HtrA2 in no lymph node metastasis group and lymph node metastas group was 88.23％ and 56.52％ respectively (P ＜ 0.05).In the Omi/HtrA2 positive expression group and the negative expression group,5-year survival rate was 47.8％ and 15.00％ respectively (P ＜0.05).Conclusion Omi/HtrA2 may play an important role in the occurrence and progression of esophageal squamous cellular carcinoma.
