Abstract

This paper describes an analysis of exposure to transmission line electric fields during farming operations. This analysis makes use of experimentally determined activity factors and time budget information for as compiled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A detailed exposure assessment for 18 typical farms (as defined by USDA) is provided for a base case 345 kV design. Exposure estimates for transmission lines ranging from 115-765 kV are provided for a representative farm.
