Abstract

The textile industry is one of the fastest growing industries today. The more the textile industry, the more dye waste is generated. Waste that is not managed properly and is wasted in the waters can cause pollution. Fish that are commonly found in freshwater are the Cichlid group, one of which is tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) which can be exposed to textile dye waste. Exposure to chemical-based textile dye waste can affect fish physiology, including the formation of fish bones when fish are growing. This can be seen from the results of research on the description of malformation of tilapia exposed to metanil yellow textile dye. This research is an experimental study on juveniles conducted in the laboratory for one month. The results showed that there were malformation in the cephal, truncus and caudal tilapia.
