Abstract

The problems of selecting the correct radiographic exposure factors are discussed. A calculator is described by means of which each type of problem may be dealt with in a simple and practical way. The weight of the patient is used as an index for the modification of “average” exposure factors. An additional factor is introduced to indicate the effects on film density of a number of other variables. The rationale and uses of the calculator are described and the methods by which the various scales have been derived are outlined.
