Abstract

This study aims to determine the competitiveness of Indonesian frozen shrimp export as a food product in Japanese market. The competitiveness of frozen shrimp products from Indonesia is also compared with the export country competitors, namely Thailand, Vietnam and China. As one of the largest shrimp exporting countries in Japan, Indonesia has great opportunity to occupy the top position as a frozen shrimp exporting country in Japan compared to the other competing countries. Competitiveness analysis is measured using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Acceleration Rate (AR) and Trade Specialization Index (TSI) approach. The data used were data from 2004 to 2021. The results show that Indonesia in exporting frozen shrimp to Japan has high competitiveness, but in controlling market share in Japan it is still relatively weak and Indonesia is also in a position of maturity stage of TSI and tends to become an frozen shrimp exporting country.
