Abstract

AbstractFurther growth of revenues in the industry is associated with an increase in exports and the efficiency of pig farming with digitalization. The paper analyzes the dynamics of pork exports and imports in 2018–2020. A conclusion is made about the significant growth of pork exports from Russia. The growth of exports was achieved during the implementation of the course on import substitution and export orientation of the industry. The calculation of coefficients characterizing Russia’s foreign trade in pork showed a positive balance of foreign trade in pork in 2020 due to the growth of pork exports, which significantly improved the coverage ratio of pork imports by exports and the balance of foreign trade in pork. However, the elasticity coefficient of pork export to production exceeded the norm of 0.3; i.e., pork production is mainly export-oriented, which affects the prices and consumption of pork meat on the national8 market. The main exporters of pork are not agricultural producers but intermediaries. Further development of pork exports requires linking export opportunities with support measures and reducing barriers to Russian exports. The directions of digitalization of pig breeding industry and problems of introduction of innovative technologies are also considered.KeywordsExportImportPig husbandry productsDigitalizationJEL ClassificationQ17Q13M15
