Abstract

The stabilisation problem of an Euler–Bernoulli beam with uncertain disturbance is investigated in this paper. Employing the idea of the sliding mode control technique, a distributed feedback controller is designed to stabilise the beam with uncertain disturbance. Moreover, the solvability of the corresponding nonlinear closed-loop system is proved based on the theory of nonlinear maximal monotone operators. Furthermore, we construct a Lyapunov function to show the exponential stability of the closed-loop system. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control method.
