Abstract
IN a recent discussion on the initiation and growth of explosion in solids, Eggert1 and McAuslan2 reported on the initiation of explosions by light. Evidence was presented for the photochemical and/or photothermic effects in various nitrides, azides, acetylides and perchlorates.
