Exploring the Meaning and Directions of Case Management in Community Welfare Centers

Abstract

본 연구는 지역사회복지관 사례관리 실천의 의미와 실천 지향성을 파악하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 사례관리가 가진 근본적 가치와 관점을 중심으로, 지역사회복지관 사례관리 실무자가 생각하는 사례관리의 의미와 실천 지향성을 알아보기 위해 사례관리자 4명에 대한 다중사례 연구방법을 선택하였다. 연구의 두 가지 핵심질문 “지역사회복지관에서 사례관리를 실천하는 의미는 무엇이며, 바람직한 사례관리의 실천원칙과 지향성은 무엇인가?”에 대해 서울․인천지역 지역사회복지관 사례관리자 4명을 심층면접 하였고, 해당 자료를 귀납적으로 분석하여 핵심 범주를 도출하였다. 분석결과, 지역복지관 사례관리 실천의 의미와 관련하여 4가지의 핵심범주가 도출되었고, 사례관리 실천의 지향성과 관련해서도 4가지의 핵심범주가 도출되었다. 연구 주요 결과를 바탕으로 맞춤형 교육의 강화, 기관의 고유한 강점 찾기, 3대 기능사업 통합방법의 모색, 이용자가 주체가 되는 실천방법에 대한 모색, 사례량에 대한 논의 등을 제언하였다.The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning and directions of case management at the Community Social Welfare Center. With a special focusing on the value and perspectives of case management, multi-case qualitative research has been implemented to answer the two key research questions, the meaning and directions of social welfare case management practices. Collecting data through in-depth interview with 4 case managers from Community Social Welfare Center, the study found four different main themes regarding meaning of case management practices, such as ‘Establishing a human perspective’, ‘Bringing our own strengths’, ‘Expanding boundaries’, ‘Working toward broader community context.’ Regarding future directions of case management practices, the participants shared another four core themes, ‘Addressing the value of case managers’, ‘Roles of supervisors allowing the right direction’, ‘Establishing broader working relationships’, and ‘Work autonomy, rather than reducing case-loads.’ Based on the major findings of the study, authors suggested the necessity of customized training for managers and supervisors, establishment of unique strengths of community welfare centers, ways to integrate the different functions of the center, and the efforts for client-centered approaches.
