Abstract

This study explores the experiences of service users completing outcome measure questionnaires (OM’s) in a CAMHS service. The study utilises a mixed methods framework with a sample of N=12 participants (6 young people and 6 mothers). Themes emerging were (1) Autonomy (2) Communication (3) Safe space (4) Efficiency vs Accuracy. Responses suggest that participants felt OM’s are an important part of their care, however expressed the need for more collaborative working with clinicia,ns. Participants felt OM’s were quick and efficient however some identified need for more in depth questions. Lastly participants identified the need for a safe space when completingOM’s. The study provides suggestions to overcome barriers to completing OM for service users (SU’s) in a CAMHS service.
