Abstract

Magnetic manipulation in thin films is essential for modern technology. Extensive studies on exchange bias with antiferromagnetic materials and transition metals exist, but research on rare earth elements is limited. This study investigates the formation of the L10-MnPt phase and a ferromagnetic-like Gd phase on Si/SiO2 thin films. We observed thickness-dependent anisotropic magnetic fields in Gd thin films and thickness-dependent exchange bias in the heterojunctions. These findings enhance our understanding of the magnetic properties of MnPt, Gd and the multilayer heterostructure.
