Abstract

We have begun to tap into the rich ligating potential of 2,2-difluoro-4,6-bis(2-pyridyl)-1,3-dihydro-1,3,5,2-triazaborinine (Py2F2BTA) and 2,2-difluoro-4,6-bis(2-pyrimidinyl)-1,3-dihydro-1,3,5,2-triazaborinine (Pm2F2BTA) ligands, which combine attractive features from both the prototypic tridentate chelate 2,2′,6′,2″-terpyridine and luminescent boron dipyrromethene based dyes. To that end, the synthesis and structural analsyis of a series of Py2F2BTA and Pm2F2BTA based coordination complexes with iron salts is presented.
