Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study is the first to examine the use of the construct positive psychological capital (PsyCap) with employees in nonprofit organizations (NPOs). Previously PsyCap has only been tested among private sector employees. The purpose of this exploratory survey design study (N = 177) is to (1) test reliability of a PsyCap instrument with nonprofit employees and (2) better understand the relationship between PsyCap and nonwork-related–quality-of-life factors. Findings indicate that PsyCap is a reliable measure for use with NPO employees, similar to use within the private sector. Further, greater quality-of-life predicts higher levels of PsyCap. Implications for policy-practice are offered.
