Abstract

Exploration for oil and gas in the North Sea has been carried on at a high level since the first licenses were granted in 1964. Several commercial gas fields have been discovered in British waters. The North Sea basin has been a depositional site for potentially productive sediments at different times since the early Carboniferous. Interpretation of seismic data is complicated by variable thicknesses of Permian salt overlying the older productive strata. End_of_Article - Last_Page 462------------
