Abstract

A veteran nursing educator, Dr. Patty Knecht now uses her position in the corporate world to address the imminent nursing shortage. In an article published in The Hill last fall, she wrote that by 2025 the United States will have a six‐figure shortfall in the number of nurses needed for direct patient care. With approximately 100,000 nurses having left the profession due to pandemic burnout, a significant influx of new nurses entering the healthcare workforce is needed.
