Abstract

Midwifery care is an evidence-based model of maternity and women’s health care demonstrated to improve maternal health outcomes, but the majority of midwives in the United States identify as White. Racially and culturally concordant care has been increasingly recognized as an important component of holistic, patient-centered care and for improving health outcomes. Therefore, increasing the number of midwives of Color is an evidence-based intervention to improving perinatal health in the United States.
