Abstract

Drawing on Bronfenbrenner's ecological system and van Lier's affordance, this study explored livestream English teaching anxiety experienced by high school teachers through interviews with 12 high school EFL teachers from China. Six types of anxiety were identified at the macro, exo, and micro levels, namely, anxiety related to the COVID-19 pandemic, limited technological support from school authorities, students' parents, inadequate technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPACK), and insufficient effective teacher–student interactions. Implications for alleviating teachers' online anxiety were proposed to enhance the teachers' livestreaming confidence and the teaching quality in the post pandemic era.
