Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the top digital topics recently emerging within the oil and gas industry. For IoT to arise from the conceptual level, organizations must be ready to invest and adopt this new technology. Several studies have looked into the prospective of IoT in the industrial sector. However, IoT is still not properly adopted across different industries including the oil and gas industry. The existing literatures identify lack of knowledges in IoT adoption and inadequate IoT adoption researches especially in oil and gas industry. IoT adoption is relatively sparse and lack of focus in a specific industry. This study aims to identify factors influencing IoT adoption in oil and gas industry, statistically evaluate the influencing factors, propose the IoT adoption model, recommend suitable strategies for IoT adoption in Malaysian oil and gas industry and spur the research community to explore into more research in IoT adoption.
