Abstract

ABSTRACT The NK model has been used widely to explore aspects of natural evolution and complex systems. This paper introduces a modified form of the NK model for exploring distributed control in complex systems such as organisations, social networks, collective robotics, etc. Initial results show how varying the size and underlying functional structure of a given system affects the performance of different distributed control structures and decision making, including within dynamically formed structures and those with differing numbers of control nodes.
