Abstract

Exploratory Study of Skills and Knowledges in Algebra and Aritmethic of Freshman Students from the Universidad Politécnica de San Luis Potosí. Every program degree of the Universidad Politécnica de San Luis Potosí includes the regularization course called “Math Introduction”. It is mainly addressed for topics in the areas of algebra and arithmetic and it is taught to freshman students in our University. In order to know if the course topics are appropriate and efficient for the graduates who take this study plan, we made an exploratory test for first semester students from every degree program offered by the University. In this work, it is described the way the exploratory test was realized, the kind of items and questions that it contains. The obtained results are statistically shown for each program degree, by gender and by age.
