Abstract

Emergency physicians face the challenge of caring for acute and chronic pain patients daily and are among the top prescribers of opioids. The objective of this study was to understand factors influencing emerency physicians intention to use a prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) during patient care. Information from this study can be used to guide future PDMP software enhancements and provider education to promote use of PDMPs as a tool to aid prescribing decisions.
