Abstract

The Musicacoustica-Beijing festival in Beijing, as the largest scale, highest standard and most widely influential professional electroacoustic music activity in Asia, has aroused great attention and strong reactions from domestic and overseas specialists, scholars and media. It has become an important example for such international electroacoustic music events in Asia. Musicacoustica-Beijing offers an open window for scrutiny of electroacoustic music from multiple countries and in different genres at the beginning of the twenty-first century. In just twenty years, Musicacoustica has rapidly developed from a non-scheduled, small-scale music activity to the largest and most widely attended electroacoustic music festival in Asia. The great success achieved, the artistic value reflected, and the quality of research topics discussed has not been ignored. Also, the development of Musicacoustica has undergone a process of long exploration and evolving practices. Its concept and aspirations have experienced an evolution towards innovation and refinement. This in-depth study of the development of Musicacoustica sheds light on the history and current situation of Chinese electroacoustic music.
