Abstract

Abstract We investigate the use of the periodic structure of chaotic systems in noise reduction. We show how the periodic points of a chaotic system can be useful in extended Kalman filtering. The periodic points are found using a recently developed algorithm for finding a periodic structure in time series data. The method is demonstrated on data from a chaotic map.
