Abstract

The paper is concerned with the application of interval linear programming to limit analysis of discrete structures. The static limit analysis problem is formulated as an interval linear program, i.e. a linear programming problem with two-sided constraints. A new method to obtain an explicit representation of the set of optimal solutions to this problem, using the generalised inverses of matrices, is proposed in the paper. The method is illustrated by simple examples of truss, beam and frame.
