Abstract

This paper proposes a control design for constant frequency switch-mode DC-DC Quadratic Boost Converter (QBC) using Explicit Model Predictive Control (EMPC). The discrete-time state space model is derived for the QBC and formulated as Multi-Parametric Quadratic Programming (mpQP) problem. The solution to the optimization problem is the optimized control law calculated online using Multi-Parametric Toolbox 3.0 (MPT 3.0) and MATLAB. The simulation result shows the optimal performance of EMPC compared to the conventional PI controller.
