Abstract

The timing relation between sensory modalities, including motor actions and the sensory consequences of that action, can be adapted by exposing participants to artificial delays in the involved modalities (i.e., temporal recalibration). The mechanism underlying temporal recalibration, though, remains elusive. In our research, we examine to which extent explicit tests about temporal relation — like temporal order or synchrony judgments — yield similar result as more implicit test. We address the intriguing question whether explicit judgments about crossmodal temporal order versus implicit measures can actually dissociate.
