Abstract

Lung cancer mortality rates in British women are stabilising but not yet falling, contrary to some press reports. The UK has one of the highest death rates in Europe for lung cancer in women; in 2007–08, over 15 000 women in the UK died of the disease. “Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the UK”, notes Henrik Møller (Thames Cancer Registry, King's College, London, UK).
