Abstract

Background and Objectives vaginismus and Dyspareunia disorders is important issue in the field of pain because this type of pain is part of emotional behaviors in marital relationships such as sexual intimacy and vaginal intercourse. The aim of the present study was to investigate the antecedents that lead to the experience of vaginismus and Dyspareunia in women. Methods This study was conducted with a qualitative approach and using the method of contractual content analysis with inductive method. 9 female participants with vaginismus and Dyspareunia were selected by purposive sampling method and continued to saturate. After data collection, all interviews were implemented and reviewed and the main components were extracted. First, the semantic units were identified and then turned into psychological expressions. Finally, the general structure was determined and combined. Results In general, thirteen predictive categories were identified using research data analysis. Accordingly, the preceding categories of this experience include incorrect family sex education, incorrect religious attitude, sexual abuse, phobia, fatigue, lack or insufficiency of sexual awareness, sexual disorders of the spouse, psychological disorders of the spouse, fear of pregnancy, Lack of foreplay, suppression of sexual desire, previous failed marriage and viewing pornographic images. Conclusion The results of this study enrich the previous research literature on the antecedents of the lived experience of vaginismus and dyspareunia. Also, the structure of living experience of vaginismus and Dyspareunia extracted in this study is widely used to develop and implement prevention and treatment programs for this disorder.
